My Realizations at 30

One day, I was sitting in my room, meditating, counting the cars passing on the road, it was rush hour that time and a lot of cars probably on their way to work. Then this comes to my mind, I’m 30 years old, doing the same thing, same job, same routine, when can I be free from work and have more free time. I love what I’m doing, I’m very thankful for my job but I don’t wanna keep doing the same thing in the next 10 years. I don’t wanna keep working until I become hunchback with cane on my hand. I need to do something. Then I saw an advertisement in social media about a stock market class, so I enrolled and I took that class. I felt so blessed that I grab that chance to learn something new.

This blog is purely based on my personal experiences, not to brag or offend anyone but to help us maybe think broader and wiser.

Take risks

Life will not always give us what we want, sometimes we have to take a risk.

If we don’t take a risk, we’ll never gain anything in our life. Step out of your comfort zone, try other things other than following your routine. Test your limitations, grab opportunities that comes along your way. For me, its better to try even I failed than never trying at all. At least I did and I learn something from it. “Failing is part of winning”-Rich Dad.

Back in 2016, I was so scared to come and work in the UAE. I thought it was a very risky decision. I don’t have any relative or friends to run to if I need them, totally different culture, language and people. But I’m so glad I took that chance.

If I didn’t take the risk, I would still be a minimum wage earner back home, earning just enough for my monthly dues. Maybe I would still be driving a Carabao but never a car. lol

Set your Goals

Having set goals is good, achieving them is the best feeling ever.

On a class that I attended, they taught us to write down our goals in a paper then put it somewhere we can see everyday, in that way we’ll be easily reminded. The teacher said that looking at our goals everyday helps us be motivated and create a positive energy in our minds that it is possible to achieve it. It can turn into reality. This is what successful people do.

Saving 500AED/mos, sounds simple, 500 a month will be give you 6,000 in 1 year, enough for a trip outside the country, just an example.

Be unique, Stop being Mediocre

Don’t always go with the flow, try to take the other way around. Don’t always do the same things that all your friends are doing. Try to be different, choose your own path. Try to elevate yourself in a way that you’re not stepping on someone’s shoes.

Accept criticisms

No one is perfect in this world; no matter how we strive to be a better person there is always something that isn’t right. Accept corrections, listen and learn from other’s feedback.

Don’t stress out on little things.

Choose your circle of friends

Family is the smallest unit of our society. They are the most important people in our life. We have to love them, respect them, take care of them, and support them. And try to be someone that our parent will be proud off.

In addition to our family, we have people who we call friends. Not all people around us are our friends.

Stay with people who encourage you, believe in you and trust you. Stay with people who are willing to uplift you in times of your defeat. We can have a lot of friends but to have someone on our side whatever it takes, in good times and bad times they are the real ones and worth to keep. Value these kinds of friends.

Feed your soul

We also need to take care of our souls as we take care of our physical body, whatever we believe in spiritually. Go to church, listen to sermons, hang out with brothers in sisters from church. Have a commitment and help the church in the least that you can.

Meditation and prayer are some ways to solidify our faith.

Start to built your wealth

Before, when I hear the word “built your wealth”, I thought of millions of money in order to do it. But then I realized, it’s not always like that. Even a regular employee like me, can start to built wealth using what they earn.

We all know that millionaires have more that one source of income. Their notion is that if the other one fail they still have the others running. For me, my main source of income is my monthly paycheck, if something happens to my job who knows where will I go next. Lol.

Owning a business, buying shares, investing in a company, investing in a real estate property are just some of the ways you can have an additional income in long run. We’ll talk about more on financial wealth in a separate blog.

Be generous

Just recently, Michael Jordan donated 10M dollars to Make-A-Wish for his 60th birthday. Millionaires have their own charitable works. I know were not a millionaires yet but we can be generous in some other ways.

Some people wish they had same life as we have. Be grateful and be generous even in small ways.

Tipping the Talabat guy who works under the burning fire of sun, giving something for the lady who cleaned our house, something like that is an act of generosity.

Don’t forget to share our blessings.

Love your self

Don’t put too much pressure on yourself. We can’t control everything; there will be time that things go against our plans but its okay. We couldn’t have everything in this world, we win some, we loose some. Accept failures and learn from it.

We can never please everybody, as long as we’re on the right side, people’s perspective towards you doesn’t really matter. We don’t need validation from others, just be confident with yourself.

Learn when to say NO, saying yes to everything or to everyone will make you fed up in the end. The more you know yourself and the more you understand yourself the higher you’ll reach.

Elevate your career by attending training/seminars or by maybe initiating something at your work. Educate yourself by reading, read about people’s success stories or motivational articles watch videos from successful people.

Socialize with like-minded people. Don’t let anyone disturb your inner peace.

Take care of your health

We all know that “Health is Wealth”. Our health is the most important asset that we have.

Eat healthy, exercise, take a break when feeling tired.

Have enough sleep, successful people say sleeping at least 8 hours at night helps keep your brain and body in shape the next day.

Treat yourself once in a while, go for body massage or go for a make over, visit your manicurist, in short pamper yourself is also a way of taking care of yourself.

Take a break, travel and explore the world as much as you can while you are young and able.
